SNAP/EBT BENEFITS ACCEPTED!
We welcome SNAP-EBT and p-EBT benefits, and match your benefits one-for-one! This means that if you use $10 of SNAP-EBT or p-EBT benefits, you will receive $10 worth of Staunton Farmers' Market coins AND an additional $10 worth of SFM green coupons to purchase fruits and vegetables at the Market.
Come visit the SNAP-EBT table at the Market. Look for the sign, “Use Your SNAP Benefits Here!" to learn more and use your benefits at our market.
We also welcome customers who have Senior and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program Vouchers. Look for signs at participating vendors, “We proudly participate in Farm Market Fresh for Seniors and WIC”
Did you know that the SFM receives no support from the government for our SNAP services?
The government will reimburse us for SNAP transactions and we are also reimbursed for coupons customers spend with our vendors, but that money can only be used to reimburse vendors. All the costs of the SNAP Table, including materials (tent, table, tokens and coupons), flyers, supplies and the salary of the SNAP Manager are paid by the SFM. Virginia Fresh Match (VFM) is a network of farmers markets, mobile markets and community food stores across Virginia. VFM locations offer nutrition incentives that double the value of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) dollars spent on fruits and vegetables. With VFM, SNAP shoppers can afford more fruits and vegetables, local farmers earn extra income, and more dollars stay in the local economy.
